The game is not terribly difficult at the moment, and I haven’t died once, but it is slowly getting harder in time. It has a new story and a surprising amount of voicework attached to it, and you will be fighting familiar enemies, yes (Fallen, spiders) but also new ones (Gargoyles). This is a totally new game, to be clear, not a port. But it plays well with the simplified controls and loot system, and the game essentially looks pretty close to Diablo 3, albeit a bit lower spec. Gear quickly shows you whether it’s an overall power upgrade or not with a little up arrow, and at level 28 or so on my Barbarian, I haven’t seen any legendary drops yet, but the yellows are starting to come. Barbarians have two melee weapons, no two handers, Demon Hunter’s have two crossbows, also no two-handers or normal bows, unless those come later, but it doesn’t seem like it. Speaking of hacking, your weapon selection is limited this time around. Players now also have an “ultimate” move based on using your main attack enough that does good damage is good for hacking down tougher enemies. These skills do not appear to have any runes attached to them to modify them like Diablo 3, you simply level them up as you level your character for more damage. Everything else is literally just cooldown based, with numbers ticking down to when you can use your cleave or giant slam hammer again, no resources required. ![]() ![]() ![]() Some channeled skills like the Barbarian’s whirlwind or Demon Hunter’s strafe have to recharge using energy, but it’s essentially just an altered cooldown. A mana-like resource, rage, discipline, etc, is essentially gone.
